We call ourselves a collective, which sounds grandiose given there are only three of us. But it’s our broad collection of skills and extensive experience that earns us that title. We’re producers, shooters, editors, writers and designers. And with an exclusive list of industry leading pals, we can scale up or down with the job.
We love jobs that involve industry, boats, trains and planes, the outdoors, and anything sports related. We’re just as capable working with a CEO in the big smoke as we are with a track maintainer in the deep south.
Put simply, we just like meeting people and telling their stories.
Hamish grew up watching the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race and landed the dream job as Media Crew Member on board Camper for the 2011/12 Volvo Ocean Race.
Which is all pretty weird given Hamish’s propensity for seasickness.
Hamish has the ability to film and edit in the toughest of work environments. If you can produce award-winning content while blasting along in a sodden ocean racing yacht than you can produce great content anywhere!
Having completed the Volvo Ocean Race, Hamish has worked closely with Emirates Team New Zealand, documenting and managing media from the lows of losing in San Francisco to the highs of redemption in Bermuda.
Hamish: ‘The greatest part about running The VC is the people you meet and the jobs you get to work on. We gaining insight into fantastic companies and brands and turn these into great stories. No job is the same. That’s the beauty of it.’
Brendon is one of New Zealand’s most experienced and reliable print photographers. With over 25 years experience, he has worked for some of the biggest media players on the globe. He has shot everything from All Blacks to super-yachts to street cricket in the slums of India.
He cut his teeth for three years working as a staff photographer for The New Zealand Herald before developing his craft further in Europe. On his return to New Zealand, he built a successful freelance business, working regularly for the Bloomberg , Kiwirail TVNZ and the NZ Government Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Brendon is known as a creative and versatile performer who always comes through with the goods. In short, he works bloody hard but enjoys every minute!
He also has the incredible knack of knowing every cafe in town so can recommend a goodie should you need to leave the office to talk ‘shop.’

Name a genre or format and there’s a good chance Jimmy has covered it in what has become a high profile career, spanning more than 18 years.
His work has taken him around the planet and been viewed by a global audience, with programming produced for world leading media outlets such as CNN, BBC, NBC and content for super brands, the likes of Red Bull, Coca Cola, and Vodafone.
Here in New Zealand, he has worked on top rating shows such as Grand Designs, X Factor, The Block, and recently post directed a wildlife series for Animal Planet.
Jimmy is also is fluent in German, having spent seven years in Germany and Austria refining his knowledge of pilsner and bratwurst.
